The PBS stations across the state, known as Tennessee Public Television Council (TPTC), in Partnership with Tennessee Emergency Managment (TEMA) agency produced the documentary Ready Tennessee to get emergency preparedness information into the households of more than 4 million Tennesseans. The show provides practical planning tips to help individuals and families be prepared for disasters and emergencies. It premieres Sunday, September 6th at 1pm on WTCI.
"Relationships are vitally important to our world of emergency management and preparedness," said TEMA Deputy Commissioner David Purkey. "We are fortunate to have a great partner like TPTC who can help us get information out to a diverse audience about taking emergency readiness seriously. Plus, the more people we can educate about disaster planning, the less likely we are to put first responders in harm's way."
Ready Tennessee features segments on understanding watches and warnings, home safety information, influenza preparedness, fire safety and severe weather readiness. Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam are hosts for the Ready Tennessee documentary and emphasize how important it is for families to have plans and resources in place for disasters and emergencies.
