RE: August 21, 2009 Insider. In response to Louis Lee Medicaid works so make expand it to a pay scale system. I would point out to Mr. Lee that Medicaid, TennCare, in Tennessee, is a complete failure. I have MS, $720 per month in disability income, a 15 year old car, and I do not qualify for TennCare. I was got off this month because I have to many resources. $720 and an old care is too many resources. This month I got cut from QMB which paid my Medicare premiums. So Next month, my income will decrease about $100 per month to cover my Medicare. The good news, if any, is now I will get $45.00 per month in food stamps, so my decrease in disposable income will be $55.00 per month. I worked most of my life until My MS completely debilitated me. What will I have to cut out now of my budget? I know, I won't eat the last week of the month. Here is a waste I see in the system. When I used to have to use Tenncare to transport me to the doctor, I would have to call Nashville to arrange the pickup. ($$$ now go to the state administration service) TennCare then would order it to one of the regional "Human Resource Agencies" ($$$ more money off the top for SETHRA or which ever HRA serves you county) Then, more than likely, the HRA would sub it out to a transport company ($$$ END) So a $15.00 taxi ride to the doctor ends up costing about $150.00. Great! Same scenior for LIHEAP (Heating assistance). Funding From Uncle Sam, To Cousin Tennessee, To The Regional HRA, then the LOCAL HRA office then to the end user (Electric Company, etc) So the end user gets the benefit of $250 and $500 for the different levels of administration. Thank you for the forum to voice.
