WTCI'S ROAD TO RIVERBEND HONORED WITH TELLY AWARD
WTCI, the Tennessee Valley’s PBS station, was honored with a 2008 National Telly Awards for the locally produced documentary Road to Riverbend! The documentary was honored earlier by the International Festival and Events Association with the “Gold Pinnacle Award,” the highest honor for a local television program. It was also nominated for a Mid-South Emmy Award.
Road to Riverbend, produced by WTCI, takes viewers behind the scenes to show what it takes to make one of the largest outdoor music festivals in the country happen. From interviews with festival organizers to what it takes to actually get the acts to the giant Coca-Cola stage before the headlining performance, Road to Riverbend answers all of the questions people have and maybe even a few never thought of before.
The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. Since 1978, their mission has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity. The 29th Annual Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents. Fewer than 10% of those entries received honors.
