CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee – August 4, 2009 – The British are coming to WTCI-TV (PBS) in August! Are You Being Served? star Nicholas Smith—a.k.a. Mr. Rumbold—will be featured at a special reception at WTCI on Saturday, August 15 at 6 p.m. This special meet-and-greet opportunity is offered free of charge to honor WTCI’s Britcom fans, members and others interested in a fun evening at WTCI’s broadcast center, located at 7540 Bonnyshire Drive.
“WTCI strives to give back to our members and community by offering special events that engage viewers with the PBS personalities they love,” said Paul Grove, WTCI President & CEO. “Our Britcom programs have grown increasingly popular, and we are excited to be hosting the star of one of our most popular Britcom programs.”
Smith will sing, play the piano and mingle with guests, and there will be photo and autograph opportunities. Smith will also be WTCI’s lead talent for a live pledge drive beginning at 8 p.m. that will feature episodes of Are You Being Served?, a British sitcom set in a fictional London department store.
The event is sponsored locally by Crutcher Pianos, Women’s Diagnostic Imaging Center, Alexian Village and Deli Man & Cake Lady, with accommodations by Doubletree Hotel Chattanooga.
