WTCI Produces 2009 Chattanooga History Makers Documentary Honoring

Fletcher Bright and the Dismembered Tennesseans

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – November 19, 2009 – WTCI-TV (PBS) has produced a short documentary featuring Fletcher Bright and the Dismembered Tennesseans, who were honored with the 4th Annual Chattanooga History Makers Award.

Sponsored by the Chattanooga History Center, the Annual History Makers Award recognizes local individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to Chattanooga, the region, the state, or the country. The 2009 honorees were chosen for the contributions they have made to southern regional music, both as cultural preservationists and musical entertainers. WTCI works in partnership with the Chattanooga History Center to produce short documentaries honoring each year's winner.

"We are pleased to partner with the Chattanooga History Center each year to help tell the intriguing and inspirational stories of individuals who have helped shape and define our community," said Paul Grove, WTCI President & CEO.

The documentary spotlights the 63-year journey of the Dismembered Tennesseans. The friendships, the fun and the unmistakable love of the music are the common threads which have defined this local bluegrass band since its beginnings. Fletcher Bright has been central to this journey as an original co-founder of the band. Gathering musical knowledge from the best in the region and the world, Bright and the band have helped keep this important cultural element alive and in motion.

After its on-air debut on Saturday, November 21 at 8:48 p.m., the 2009 Chattanooga History Makers documentary can be viewed online at wtciTV.org "Watch Online". WTCI encourages viewers to visit wtciTV.org "Watch Online" to share their thoughts on the documentary and memories of the Dismembered Tennesseans.  Past features are also available online honoring the Howard High School Class of 1960, Dalton Roberts, Rev.
