
From Lookout Mountain to the Valley Below: Our National Park Premiered Sunday, September 27 at 3:30 p.m.
WTCI aired From Lookout Mountain to the Valley Below: Our National Park, a WTCI-produced documentary, on Sunday, September 27 at 3:30 p.m. This local documentary features Civil War stories from the fields of battle of the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, to present day preservation efforts as seen through the eyes of those whose lives have been inspired by the Park’s rich history.
“This project will complement the debut of Ken Burns’ latest project, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea as we continue our role as the community’s storyteller” said Paul Grove, WTCI President and CEO. “We believe it’s important that WTCI tell the stories that connect our local history with the current generation.”
Ken Burns’ latest documentary, T he National Parks: America’s Best Idea, a six-part, 12-hour series, which began airing on Sunday, September 27 beginning at 4:00 p.m. and continued through October 3, 2009. “Our film celebrates the beauty of these parks and the vision and foresight of the men and women who made sure that this land would be preserved,” says Burns.
As part of a National Public Lands celebration, the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park Visitors’ Center in Fort Oglethorpe, GA screened From Lookout Mountain on Saturday, September 26. Visitors enjoyed a unique opportunity to view the documentary on the very grounds where it was filmed. The documentary was shown between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; screenings started at the bottom of every hour.
