Ready to Learn Enrichment
WTCI supports Hillcrest Elementary with a Ready To Learn program partnership.
WTCI-PBS staff works closely with the Hillcrest Elementary media specialist to bring creative, new learning opportunities to their students. Hillcrest is a Title I School that has a current enrollment of approximately 320 students in grades PreK-5.
We created a once-a-month program from November 2012 – May 2013 where we work with Ready To Learn content games on PBS KIDS Lab and PBS KIDS apps on the iPad with the entire 2nd grade class of Hillcrest Elementary.
During a typical program day we work with two different groups, each with 25 2nd graders. Our program consists of students partnering and competing in RTL games from PBS KIDS Lab on computers before moving on to the iPad station, a favorite for everyone.
Through these monthly programs, our goal is to introduce the students to WTCI-PBS, the Ready To Learn content games on PBS KIDS Lab and the PBS KIDS apps available on the iPad.
