"A Hackanooga mini-reunion took place at WTCI over the weekend of Oct. 19-21. Two volunteer professional developers, a visual designer and a senior computer science student from UTC joined WTCI staff and board members to work on the proof-of-concept web app www.proximity1.com.
With refreshments sponsored by Chambliss, Bahner and Stophel, everyone kept there energy level high on the important work of creating an "app from the future" that collects local, high quality public media content. Professional staff and board members provided on-site focus group feedback. It was important to the group that a broad audience be able to easily access and enjoy the proximity1 channels."

"When we first got back together - after some initial hello's and good-to-see-you's - we quickly surmised that we were going to be a bare-bones team on this effort. Whereas during the original Hackanooga event we had as many as seven people working on the project at any one time, we now had three. One back-end developer, one front-end developer, one designer, and a handful of idea people here at WTCI.
Without even needing to discuss roles and responsibilities, the three of us 'core workers' set about tackling the tasks that played to our strengths. Because the front-end had to be coded in JavaScript and that is what I'm strongest in, I set to work on that. Lee, a confessed Drupal and PHP maestro, immediately setup a server for our back-end. Tianna, the purveyor of pixels, took what she had designed for Hackanooga and adopted it for our new direction.
Collaboration was strong, because we respected our individual strengths while remaining open to new ideas and input from each other. And also, most importantly, because if we didn't collaborate, if we didn't let each other do what each person did best, we would fail - and the weekend would be for nothing."
